Graphics Designer | Nemours | Newark, DE

Nemours Health and Prevention Services (NHPS) headquartered in Newark, Delaware, works with families and communities to help children grow up healthy, both physically and emotionally. It is a division of Nemours, a non-profit organization dedicated to children's health and health care that offers treatment services, research and training programs in Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida. Health and Prevention is Nemours' newest division, created to expand its reach beyond clinical care to consider the health of the whole child within his or her family and community.

NHPS work currently focuses on two health topics: Healthy Eating/Physical Activity (HEPA) and Emotional/Behavioral Health (EBH). We work toward integrated policy, practice, and program change in four sectors in the State of Delaware: child care, schools, primary health care and communities.

The NHPS Graphic Designer will be responsible for creating original design for and producing web-oriented graphics and print collateral for both internal and external communications. Designer will work closely with the Communications Team and use extensive conceptual and creative skills to propose and develop ideas, implement new features, and assist in maintenance of print and electronic publications. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for establishing and upholding high quality standards of design for online, print, and multimedia projects. Designer may also be required to coordinate work of vendors such as media vendors and printers.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Design: Work closely with the Communications Team and across centers to understand project and audience needs; develop design concepts for both print and electronic media that visually communicate the division's message effectively, including print layouts and web graphics; and implement small and large-scale design tasks for web, print, and multimedia products.
  • Execution: Use appropriate tools to develop and execute graphic design, perform layout, upload web content; finalize and prepare materials for production; take projects from inception through production in both print and electronic media, including brochures, newsletters, press kits, web pages, and PowerPoint presentations. Production tasks may range from in-house desktop publishing to offset print prepress to electronic publication on the division's website.
  • Print coordination: Work with print vendors to get estimates, scope jobs, scheduling, perform press checks, and work with Communications Team to coordinate blueline approvals.
  • Quality, consistency, strategic messaging: Participate in Communications Team discussions regarding strategies and goals, business/marketing issues, etc.; work closely with Communications Team to ensure quality and consistency with external messaging.
  • Graphic standards and branding: Coordinate and maintain graphic standards (for example, standard PowerPoint templates); establish new standards for in-house desktop publishing as appropriate.
  • Workload and administrative tasks: Manage multiple print and online design-related projects from concept to completion in a timely fashion; utilize budgetary resources as directed; communicate regularly with supervisors regarding issues of productivity and workload.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree required in Art, Graphic Design, or related major. At least 3 years professional experience in graphic design and 2 years in web or multimedia design environment. The experience must include designing marketing collateral and print production. Designer must possess excellent conceptualization and creativity skills, with proven experience in print and web design, typography, and layout. A solid portfolio with all professional work is required. Must be proficient in PhotoShop, Illustrator, QuarkXpress, Flash, Dreamweaver, ImageReady, and HTML. Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills are a must.
